About Us
The idea of a Foreign Trade Academy for Nigeria came about in consonance with the aspirations of Nigerian development planners whose desires as documented in the 5th National Development is to make Nigeria one of the largest twenty economies in the world by the year 2020; this is as contained in the Vision 2020 document. However, more importantly, the vision of the founding fathers of the FTA who dreamt up the idea was in acknowledgement of the crucial role trade had to play if indeed Nigeria is to become a global trading giant like the (BRICS) Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa (to which we must now add Vietnam); especially as measured by the standards set by the Vision20; 2020 aspiration.

To truly be the pioneering Foreign Trade Academy in Nigeria, prestigious in orientation, world class in standard, offering universally acceptable programs, using first-class faculty in attaining short, medium and long term strategic objectives.

"An autonomous tertiary level academic institution based in Nigeria offering world-class, specialised training and courses in concept and principles of Foreign Trade with emphasis on useful combination of theory and practice, especially the practice exposure of trainees to a sound understanding of knowledge-area by depending on acquisition of practical field experience from foreign affiliation with the credible institutions and partners on the African continent and the rest of the world."
Programs
Undergraduate
A four year Bachelor's degree program, well curated for today's market. FTA prepares the future workforce and leaders through experiencial learning, relevant to the marketplace.
Postgraduate
FTA offers opportunities for internationally acredited post graduate programs in Trade, Finance, Management, Transport and logistics as well as trade related areas. This program is afiliated to the DNU.
Certificates and Diplomas
An Introductory and quasi transitions certificates and diplomas courses in Trade, Finance and International business with options for online pathway.
Short Courses
Industry specific and customized short program grafted to enable working class executive bridge the gap in what is being done and the fast changing landscape. Also offered online and some are self paced.
